Echad is a sermon production tool used by Jesus Church of Brookings (Brookings, South Dakota) and its sister churches. Church staff upload service recordings; Echad trims them, makes the podcast audio, the YouTube video and short clips, and posts them to the church's own channels when staff click Post.
What we keep
- Accounts for church staff: name, email and password (stored hashed).
- The church's recordings, transcripts and the files Echad makes from them.
- For YouTube posting: a sign-in token for the church's YouTube channel (encrypted), and the channel's id and name.
How Echad uses YouTube data
Echad uses YouTube API Services. When a church connects its channel in Echad's Settings, Google asks the church to allow Echad to manage the channel. Echad then only:
- reads the channel's name, its recent uploads (titles, descriptions, tags) and its playlists, so drafts match the channel's style and can go in the right playlist;
- uploads a sermon video, sets its thumbnail and adds it to a playlist, and only when church staff click Post or Schedule for that sermon.
Echad does not sell, share or use YouTube data for advertising, and does not show it to anyone outside the church's Echad account. The channel's recent posts are fetched when a draft is written and are not stored beyond the sermon's draft.
By connecting YouTube you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Removing access and data
Click Disconnect under Settings › YouTube in Echad: Echad revokes its token with Google and deletes it. You can also remove Echad's access any time at Google's security settings. To have the church's recordings and account deleted, ask your church's Echad administrator.
